A FELONYhas been committed. Who cares about the company involved or anything else. We live in a country that has the rule of law, and it allows for someone (or a company) to file a complaint with their local police department, and if the police can gather enough evidence to prove probable cause. They then can issue warrants break down doors and arrest the criminal. Gizmodo purchased stolen merchandise, and the guy who found it (wink, wink) made no attempt to return it to it's rightful owner. Under California law that is a crime. Then he sold it to Gizmodo (Felony) and once Gizmodo received the stolen merchandise they are guilty of a felony as well. I don't care if it is Apple, an individual, or whatever, it sounds to me like the rule of law is working. Why are most people missing this?

With the internet, I think magazines aren't doing that well anyway. Plus most of them are 50% ads, and the same ones in each magazine, which is quite boring.

Actually its not a bad deal that it came out now.
There are likely people waiting for contracts to run out before getting an iphone. People waiting to switch to Verizon for instance. Now they have the option of a white iphone. The iphone 5 will likely be out late fall or early spring. But the iphone 4 is quite a good phone.
Look unless you are constantly chasing the latest and greatest then you are going to miss every other iphone model. I have the iphone and by the time my contract runs out I will likely be getting the iphone 6. I will miss the iphone 5.

On the MacBook Pros the graphics connection was downgraded from PCIe x16 to PCIe x8 to get PCIe lanes for the TBolt controller.
Wait, seriously?! Not that I'm doubting your credibility ('cause I'm not), but mind linking me to your source on that?
For what it's worth (I didn't know this either):
The graphics card of the 2011 MacBook Pro is connected on PCI-Express 8x (http://forum.hardmac.com/index.php?showtopic=9886&pid=17792&st=0&#entry17792)
Unlike in the 2010 models, the graphics card in the new 15" and 17" MacBook Pro is not connected through a PCI-Express 2.0 16x, but only an 8x.
http://files.macbidouille.com/mbv2/news/news_03_11/radeon8x_copy.jpg
From a practical point of view, it doesn't change anything and there is no decrease in the performances, since the 4 GB/s bandwidth is more than enough to get the best out of the graphics card. Instead of getting angry at Apple, we tried to understand the reasons of that choice.
To begin with, the Sandy Bridge processor has 16 PCI-Express 16x lines available and 8 others that are used to connect the Cougar Point controller.
There are also 4 PCI-Express 2.0 links on the CPU and the controller (DMI link), used to connect the two components with a 2 GB/s bandwidth, which is plenty enough to connect the CPU to the hard drive(s) and all the non graphics components.
Even if all the PCI-Express links offer the same data transfer rate, the ones that are integrated to the processor offer the advantage of never being limited in their transfer of data to the processor.
Here is part of the internal diagram of the 2011 MacBook Pro.
http://files.macbidouille.com/mbv2/news/news_03_11/radeon8x2.jpg
We can see on this diagram that Apple decided to limit the connection to the graphics chip in order to get 4 PCI-Express links for the Thunderbolt. This decision was probably made to maximize the performances of the connector and also prevent from making the DMI link a bottleneck.
That decision will have a limited impact on the performances of the THunderbolt concerning file transfer but it could become important if the data transferred has to be treated directly by the CPU.
In the end, at first it looks like Apple limited the graphics card, but that is not the case, and instead we get a more coherent architecture, which will allow the Thunderbolt to show its best.
TB is PCIe (among other things).
Apple's spec sheets have always been masterful at implying more than is actually available.
Et tu, Aiden ;). We agree on many points, but this one… j/k

The demo shows both. The gyro/acceleration works when the iPad is moving and the head is still. The head tracker adds to the effect when the iPad is still and the head is moving. The combination should be quite nice.
"It does not use the accelerometers and relies only on the front camera."

Oooohhh.. 8 seems like a big number!! :) Is it mm circumference or just.. numbers someone decided on?
Ah, a labret.. I learned that word freshman year.. then the girl with the labret piercing squirted grape juice at me through the hole.
OMG freaky, but she' first chair at Oberlin now, so I guess she can labret-squirt anyone she wants now, 'cause she's principal bass at OBERLIN her freaking junior year. (just... DAMN! I mean.. DAYMN!)

Hey everyone.
I'm in school right now. Does the MacRumorsLive.com work on cell phones? The only free time I get is at lunch when we can use our cell phones?
Thanks everyone.
Can't imagine it would, since it's self-refreshing etc. Not totally sure, though. Why not try it now to see?

I loved the first Portal and The Orange Box, but $50 for Portal 2 seems kind of steep to me.
That was exactly my concern! Portal 2 was a cheap, pack-in game that was finished in 3 hours. A fun 3 hours, but 3 hours. I'm currently 1 hour into Portal 2 and it's of a much higher quality. The puzzles and environments are more varied and there's a lot more story going in. I'd put the story structure and build-up on par with Half Life 1, not Portal 1.
It's a good game so far. Can't wait to crack on with co-op mode.
For those with old computers - it runs very well on my iMac x1600 (under Windows). I'm using ATI Tray Tools to overclock my GPU to 472mhz (core+mem) and I get between 40-60fps at 1280*720, everything set to medium with triple buffered v-sync. Looks nice. Loads fast.

Nice one.
Of course, we already knew, but it's good to see confirmation and know that there will be some indie content on there. My bet: October, and definitely alongside a new video iPod.
EDIT: As opposed to a new iPod nano.

Let me just sum this up in advance:
Apple sues someone: "They are protecting their IP/trademarks."
Not to everyone. Apple usually isn't the aggressor, they do however counter-sue quite voraciously. A lot of Apple's patents could be considered questionable, but it was accepted at the time so alas, they are not
Someone sues Apple: "They are bleeding money and need an Apple handout" or "Patent troll"
In this case though, Nokia isn't doing well. They aren't at the point yet where they are bleeding money (hardly at all) but their market impact has been greatly affected, and they are rapidly losing their profit margins relative to a few years ago.
Usually this is followed by someone with a 'shareholder' remark since they somehow believe that owning 7 shares of Apple should get them a direct line to the CEO.
had it ever occurred to you that some people on this site could be better off than you? I'm sure there's plenty of 7 share despots, but to categorize everyone into one lump... you're essentially doing the same as what you describe above.
Ut-oh, I'm not conforming to the groupthink... here comes about 40 'hater' comments.
Hater, no. Logic, yes.
As per the actual lawsuit, if I do recall one of the original points brought up was FRAND for some of the GSM patents-- this could account for the delay we see in the lawsuits even though the iPhone has been out for a few years-- if I do recall correctly there had been discussions about licensing before between Nokia and Apple. Now it seems like this is a last ditch effort, however, as bringing out extra patents that weren't related to the core issue is usually a sign of desperation.
Just speculation though.

Sorted it, but only a descent in to the nether regions of my desk to unplug the hub and assorted devices, and put them back in one by one.
As an aside, temperature seems to have gone up by as much as 10C, now idling around 58-60C. Bah.
